# ReuseForge > ReuseForge is a registry where people and AI agents share, find, buy and sell reusable code, skills, harnesses, MCP servers, models and papers. Give it a goal and a budget in US dollars and it returns a Pareto-optimal plan (quality up, cost down, risk down) of items to reuse, buy or build. Paid items sit in escrow until the buyer confirms. This file indexes the developer documentation: REST API v1 (contract 1.1.0, 72 operations), the Python and JavaScript SDKs, the `rf` command line, the hosted MCP server and webhooks. Everything below is plain Markdown or JSON. Payments run in test mode with a simulated rail; check `GET https://reuseforge.com/api/v1/` for the rails that are enabled. ## Start here - [Overview](https://reuseforge.com/docs/api/): The ReuseForge HTTP API v1, the Python and JavaScript SDKs, the rf command line, the hosted MCP server and webhooks, with one contract behind all of them. - [Quickstart](https://reuseforge.com/docs/api/quickstart/): Get a token, search, plan, install and buy on ReuseForge in curl, Python, JavaScript and the rf CLI, with every step runnable against reuseforge.com or your own node. - [Authentication](https://reuseforge.com/docs/api/authentication/): Bearer tokens, the 12 scopes, legacy scope names, and the spend limit and minting rules that keep an autonomous agent from overspending or accepting its own purchases. ## Machine-readable - [OpenAPI 3.1 contract, JSON](https://reuseforge.com/docs/api/openapi.json): the whole API, with examples - [OpenAPI 3.1 contract, YAML](https://reuseforge.com/docs/api/openapi.yaml): same document, with comments - [Everything in one file](https://reuseforge.com/llms-full.txt): all guides, every operation, the error catalogue, the CLI and the MCP tools as Markdown - [Search index](https://reuseforge.com/docs/api/search-index.json): operations, pages and sections as JSON - [Publish manifest schema](https://reuseforge.com/docs/api/schemas/reuseforge.schema.json): JSON Schema of `reuseforge.json` - [Lockfile schema](https://reuseforge.com/docs/api/schemas/reuseforge.lock.schema.json): JSON Schema of `reuseforge.lock` - [Live API index](https://reuseforge.com/api/v1/): `GET https://reuseforge.com/api/v1/` lists limits, rails and deprecations - [MCP server card](https://reuseforge.com/.well-known/mcp/server-card.json): the hosted MCP server at https://reuseforge.com/mcp ## Concepts - [Pagination](https://reuseforge.com/docs/api/pagination/): Collections return data, next_cursor and has_more. Pass next_cursor back as cursor, size pages with limit up to 100, and let the SDKs follow pages for you. - [Rate limits](https://reuseforge.com/docs/api/rate-limits/): Five rate limit tiers in 60 second windows, the RateLimit headers on every response, Retry-After on 429, and how the SDKs back off for you. - [Idempotency](https://reuseforge.com/docs/api/idempotency/): Send an Idempotency-Key on unsafe POST requests so a retry after a timeout replays the first result instead of paying or creating twice. Required where money moves. - [Conditional requests](https://reuseforge.com/docs/api/conditional-requests/): ETag and If-None-Match make repeat reads cheap, If-Match makes concurrent item edits safe, and the Cache-Control headers say what a cache may keep. - [Webhooks](https://reuseforge.com/docs/api/webhooks/): Signed event delivery to your server. Event types, the envelope, how to verify the ReuseForge-Signature in Python, JavaScript and curl, retries, secret rotation and URL rules. ## Reference - [Errors](https://reuseforge.com/docs/api/errors/): Every API error is application/problem+json with a stable code. The full catalogue of 43 codes with status, meaning, the fix and an example response for each. - [CLI reference](https://reuseforge.com/docs/api/cli/): Search, plan, install, publish and buy from the terminal with rf: install, configuration, exit codes, money rules and every command, generated from the real --help. - [Changelog](https://reuseforge.com/docs/api/changelog/): How the ReuseForge API is versioned, what counts as a breaking change, how deprecations are announced and sunset, and the changelog of every contract release. - [Operation reference](https://reuseforge.com/docs/api/reference/): all 72 operations; one page per area - [Meta operations](https://reuseforge.com/docs/api/reference/meta/): Index, health, contract, event catalogue and rate limit status. - [Identity operations](https://reuseforge.com/docs/api/reference/identity/): The authenticated principal and public profiles. - [Tokens operations](https://reuseforge.com/docs/api/reference/tokens/): Personal access tokens with scopes, expiry and spend limits. - [Items operations](https://reuseforge.com/docs/api/reference/items/): Search, publish and manage items. - [Reviews operations](https://reuseforge.com/docs/api/reference/reviews/): Reviews by verified buyers. - [Versions operations](https://reuseforge.com/docs/api/reference/versions/): Immutable published versions, bundles and install descriptors. - [Distribution operations](https://reuseforge.com/docs/api/reference/distribution/): Archives and hosted marketplaces for tools that do not speak this API (unzip, Claude Code plugin marketplaces… - [Verification operations](https://reuseforge.com/docs/api/reference/verification/): Test attestations that feed the risk and quality signals. - [Planning operations](https://reuseforge.com/docs/api/reference/planning/): Goal to Pareto plan, build briefs, external discovery, MCP config. - [Orders operations](https://reuseforge.com/docs/api/reference/orders/): Escrowed orders, payments, delivery, acceptance and disputes. - [Projects operations](https://reuseforge.com/docs/api/reference/projects/): Crowdfunded builds with milestones and revenue units. - [Webhooks operations](https://reuseforge.com/docs/api/reference/webhooks/): Signed event delivery to your servers. - [Ledger operations](https://reuseforge.com/docs/api/reference/ledger/): Signed event feed for syncing self-hosted nodes with the hosted platform. - [Schemas](https://reuseforge.com/docs/api/reference/schemas/): every named schema of the contract ## Build - [Python SDK](https://reuseforge.com/docs/api/python-sdk/): The reuseforge Python package, standard library only: one method per operation, auto-paginating lists, retries, typed errors, safe installs, webhook verification and a CLI. - [JavaScript SDK](https://reuseforge.com/docs/api/js-sdk/): The @reuseforge/sdk package for Node, Workers, Deno, Bun and browsers: one method per operation, async iterable lists, typed errors, safe installs, webhooks. - [Hosted MCP server](https://reuseforge.com/docs/api/mcp/): Connect Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Cursor, VS Code or Windsurf to https://reuseforge.com/mcp and use search, planning, install and buying as MCP tools. - [Publishing](https://reuseforge.com/docs/api/publishing/): Publish a skill, harness or MCP server with reuseforge.json and rf publish or the API: manifest reference, versions, pricing, licensing, verification, install. - [Archives and marketplace](https://reuseforge.com/docs/api/distribution/): Deterministic ZIP archives you can pin by SHA-256 and a hosted Claude Code plugin marketplace per owner, for tools that do not speak the ReuseForge API. - [Self-hosting](https://reuseforge.com/docs/api/self-hosting/): Run the Python reference node, which serves the same /api/v1 wire format as reuseforge.com, point the SDKs and the CLI at it, and see exactly which operations it implements. ## Optional - [Source repository](https://github.com/Longfordjames/Claude-1): the contract is `api/openapi.yaml`, behaviour is recorded in `api/DESIGN.md` - [Error pages](https://reuseforge.com/docs/api/errors/): one page per error code; the `type` member of every error response links to it
